Returning from the Watson: USA

From the dirt roads of Uganda to the city streets of New York, the transition wasn't as jarring as you'd expect. This wasn't my first big transition back to the USA, and I am sorry to say it has become less shocking. Still, shocking but less so.

I was in New York for a few days while Tasha was at her Watson conference. After New York, we went to North Dakota for a few weeks to visit my family. Then, we drove from ND to the Bay area to see Tasha's family. On the way, we made a stop in Bozeman to see my sister, Denise, and a stop in Seattle to see some friends.

After visiting Natasha's family, we then drove back to North Dakota for a few days before flying out of Minneapolis to London to start our Master's dissertation at University College London.

A view of factory floor at Voodoo Manufacturing, a 3D printing company my friend Jon Schwartz started.

The trophy stack of the coolest things they have 3D printed.

The office space

And, of course, the rooftop! The roofs of industrial Brooklyn.

While Tasha was at the returning fellows' conference for the Watson Fellowship, which was in Philadephia, I chilled out with Jon in NYC.

We went to the beach!

And hung out on more rooftops.
Yummy ramen! You can't get this in rural Uganda!

Or this!
The resemblance is striking! Made better by the fact that I'm wearing Natasha's shirt... I must have run out of clean clothes.

We made it to North Dakota!

And what a beautiful place it was to return to!

My extended family came to visit us upon our return.

Making some sand castles :)

And trying to destroy them.

A beautiful bouquet of paper flowers my mama made.

The boys getting ready for a river adventure.

Our attempt at a family photo.

And another one...

There, we got it!

Hanging out with Nithya during the solar eclipse!
You can't really see the eclipse.

Garrett and his gardens!

And what gardens they are!

Not sure where this was...

Happy Birthday, Davis! Back in Bozeman en route from California to North Dakota before heading to London for our Master's program.

What a cutie!

The kiddies teaching Tasha about slime. They are pros...

Safety first!

More lake.
